Call for Expression of Interest (EOI): Join the AfricaLics’ Advancing Inclusive Agricultural Innovation for Climate Resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa (AACRA) Research Coordination Area (RCA)

Introduction

The African Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence Building Systems (AfricaLics) is pleased to announce a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from African scholars and researchers based within and outside Africa to join the Advancing Inclusive Agricultural Innovation for Climate Resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa (AACRA) Research Coordination Area (RCA). This initiative aims to build a vibrant community of practice focused on generating and coordinating cutting-edge research on Agricultural innovation and resilience in the African context.

This RCA provides a platform to explore how innovation, science, and technology can strengthen social, economic, and ecological resilience across Africa. The RCA aligns with AfricaLics’ mission to advance research and policy dialogue on innovation for inclusive and sustainable development.

Focus Areas
We invite expressions of interest from scholars whose research or professional experience aligns with one or more of the following themes:

  • Inclusive innovation systems
  • Gender, and indigenous knowledge
  • Promotion of underutilized crops (agrobiodiversity)
  • Climate-smart and sustainable agricultural technologies
  • Development of a framework for climate resilience indicators
  • Research-policy linkages for sustainable development

Who Can Apply
This call targets:

  • African scholars based at universities or research institutions within an outside Africa.
  • Researchers with demonstrable interest or experience in agricultural innovation studies, development economics, science and technology policy, or resilience research.
  • Applicants with experience in collaborative research or policy engagement are particularly encouraged to apply.

What the RCA Offers
Selected scholars will:

  • Join a dynamic AfricaLics community of researchers focused on resilience-oriented innovation.
  • Participate in peer-learning and collaborative research activities.
  • Contribute to the development of research proposals, publications, and policy briefs.
  • Gain opportunities for mentorship, research visibility, and engagement with international partners.

How to Apply

Interested scholars should submit:

  1. A one-page Expression of Interest (EOI) highlighting their research interests, current affiliation, and motivation for joining the RCA.
  2. A short CV (maximum 2 pages) emphasizing relevant research experience and publications.
