AfricaLics is dedicated to advancing the field of research in innovation and development studies. A key problem facing many students and early career researchers in this field based in African universities is that they struggle to access core materials. There are two reasons for this:
- There are few courses at Masters and PhD level that are dedicated to the study of innovation and development studies as a discreet field of study.
- There are few easily accessible resources that focus specifically on innovation and development studies theory, methods and practice in the context of African states – the field is still dominated by materials that focus on issues and case studies in other parts of the world.
AfricaLics is trying to change this by:
- Providing a resource base – a ‘go-to’ guide of key materials – to provide a starting point for students and early career researchers who want to understand the field of African innovation and development studies better
- Providing template learning and teaching materials for those interested in developing new courses at Masters and PhD level in African universities.
